Connell Co-op College is a small college based in East Manchester that thinks big! Offering a wide range of A-levels, as well as BTEC qualifications and applied courses for 16-19 year olds they have something for everyone. They embarked on their digital marketing journey at the end of 2021 when they wanted to increase student enrolments in all course areas as well as brand awareness in the local area.
Prior to working with Tillison the college had undergone a rebrand and believed this was where their local visibility issues stemmed from.
Another goal of the college was to increase the volume and quality of organic traffic coming to the website to aid those all-important course enquiries and enrolments.
As visibility in the local search results was the prime college goal, we decided a managed local SEO strategy would be the best approach.
With Google Business Profile optimisation at the forefront of any local SEO strategy, the team of specialists here at Tillison reviewed and optimised the listing ensuring the primary terms and services areas were added.
Included in the Google Business Profile management were citation benchmarking and local link building to increase the domain authority.
A full website audit was carried out to review local ranking signals as well as the brand messaging to help recover from the confusion created after a rebrand.
Within just 3 months of the initial work beginning, Connell Co-op College started appearing within the map pack for ‘near me’ and local searches, this resulted in a 30% increase in organic page views.
The work also increased the number of actions that potential students took on the GMB profile. This included a 300% increase in website visits as well as an 80% increase in calls to the College.
