January 2020 Round-Up

January has been a busy month for our team, from recovering from the busy festive period to keeping up to date with Google’s latest changes there certainly hasn’t been a quiet moment in the Tillison office.

So, what’s been happening?

New Employee – Kieren Hathi

We hope you will join us in welcoming Kieren to the team!

Extinction of Google Ads Message Extensions

The extensions offered by Google Ads have rapidly grown and expanded over recent years, with its recent development being the form lead extension, implemented to increase mobile conversion rates without the need for users to leave the SERPs.

However, it’s not all good news when it comes to the Google Ads extensions, two years on from when Google got rid of the review extension they have announced that the message extension would be the next to go. On the 27th January, we saw this feature disappear from our Ad accounts, if you weren’t prepared for this change, find out what you need to do to your ads account now.

Google’s Latest Update

Earlier this month Google made one of the most noticeable changes to search results in some time.

Google introduced a favicon to the beginning of each SERP when using a desktop. A favicon is the small icon image that is located in the tab of your page before the page title but now also appearing in the search results. If you aren’t quite up to date on the latest Google update then why not head over to our blog to find out more.

As of Friday, January 24th, 2020 Google decided to backtrack on its decision to add Favicons to the SERPs after a backlash from users. It now says it is an “experimental feature”, as it wants to create the best experience.

So much more to come!

It looks like the rest of 2020 is going to follow in January’s footsteps and continue to be a busy year for us here at Tillison.

Pancake Race

On the 25th of February Waterlooville’s annual Pancake Race returns and four members of Tillison staff will be participating.

Waterlooville Co-operative Funeralcare’s pancake race is held in Waterlooville town centre where local businesses can enter to compete, the winning team will receive a £200 donation for the charity of their choice. We hope to see some familiar faces on the sidelines cheering on Team Tillison!

Charity Skydive!

On March 7th, 2020 our very own Digital PR Specialist, Kelsie, will be taking to the sky to experience a 10,000ft free-fall tandem skydive on behalf of local charity, St Wilfrid’s.

St Wilfrids Hospice is a local charity close to Kelsie’s heart that cares for people in the last phase of their life, both in the hospice and within the local community.

Initially, Kelsie was meant to take part in the skydive at the end of September 2019, however, due to bad weather, it got postponed. Although Kelsie was very disappointed it gave her longer to continue fundraising and has now raised over £900!
