After gaining a good understanding of the trial and the type of end-user that the NHS trial team was trying to engage with, our PPC Specialists assessed the different possibilities for the Trust to promote the LASER Trial.

We ran a paid social media campaign for them, and it was viewed as a tremendous success. Here’s what was achieved:

Charity Marketing Questions

If you can’t find an answer to your question, please get in touch.

There are plenty of reasons why your charity will benefit from digital marketing.

For one, ad campaigns will increase awareness of your brand among your target audience. You can also adapt your marketing approach depending on your results, the time of year and more to achieve the best results. This is where marketing for charity is advantageous – we know the charity sector inside out, and we can implement the changes necessary to increase enrolments.

Your website is obviously vital when it comes to marketing for charities, but you have to drive the right traffic to it. Search engine optimisation (SEO) and ad campaigns on search engines and social media channels will help you achieve this. However, these take specialist knowledge and a considerable amount of time, so why not hire a specialist agency to do it for you?

Absolutely. By running PPC for charity campaigns with a dedicated charity marketing agency, you can increase the number of people visiting your sites.

Charity SEO services are a number of techniques used to improve your rankings for local, national and even international, searches.

These could include Google Business Profile optimisation, Citation management, Reputation monitoring, Local PR coverage, Mobile Optimisation and Content creation.

All of these combined will help your website rank higher in the search engine results and in the local pack.

SEO for charities presents a number of incredibly powerful opportunities. Of course, some charities can rely on attracting relevant interest from the nearby area. A local SEO strategy will help charities tap into a local audience. By increasing the visibility of your brand in search results, you will attract more of your audience to your website, and boost the number of visits and conversions.

Keyword research for charities will reveal the search terms people use to find charities like yours, along with data suggesting how many searches there are for those terms.

Google Business Profile is a free tool which charities can use to manage their online presence on Google Maps and Search.

Charities can add all their essential information including opening hours, business description and business contact detail (NAP), areas you serve, your business category, photos, posts about updates, deals and events.

Google uses the information in your Google Business Profile and from pages on your site to rank your business for related local searches.

Having a Google Business Profile also allows visitors to contact you or request directions at the click of a button from a mobile or desktop.

As one of the most effective forms of advertising, with PPC you will only pay each time one of your ads is clicked on. Done right, a good PPC for charities campaign will help boost your brand awareness, increase website visits and improve conversions.

There’s no simple answer to this other than, “it depends”.

Pay Per Click (PPC) works beyond Paid Search – across a huge display network where banner ads can be displayed, for example. SEO can’t compete with that directly.

However, comparing paid search with SEO, there are pros and cons to each;

 – you pay for every click with PPC, but organic clicks are free

 – PPC can deliver traffic almost immediately, whereas SEO takes time and investment to build and create a solid return

 – the ROI from SEO typically outweighs that of PPC

In our experience, there is typically room for both within a Digital Marketing Strategy and those businesses which dominate their market invest in both.

Yes, our PPC management team also has experts who manage Microsoft Ads and social media campaigns, so if you want to expand your advertising campaigns beyond Google Ads, speak to our experts today. If you’re not sure which type of paid advertising is best for you, we can provide you with advice as to what will work best for your business and goals.

Without optimising your campaigns, your ads will not be relevant to your audience and will not be visible in the search results. This optimisation may need to be tweaked slightly as Google Ads campaigns don’t exist in a vacuum – things can affect how they perform, so we’re constantly checking and thinking of new ways to improve them.

Yes, as part of the wider user experience signal used by search engines.

Google (other search engines are available) stated way back in 2010 that “Like us, our users place a lot of value in speed – that’s why we’ve decided to take site speed into account in our search rankings“.

And even if page speed weren’t a ranking factor, it is most certainly a factor in increasing conversion rates, and getting you more leads and sales.

So yes, you (or we) should work hard to optimise your WordPress site’s page speed.

There are numerous factors which affect website speed. Disregarding elements which might slow the load time on specific pages, elements which might impact page speed across an entire site are;

  1. Hosting. Cheap website hosting may mean that your host is cutting corners to keep the hosting cost low. That often means that the server itself needs more resources; faster processors, and more RAM for example. If your site is hosted on a server with multiple other websites, this can also mean that your WordPress site is sharing resources with other websites – if they demand more resources, your site slows down.
  2. Server configuration. There are typically a number of opportunities with most web hosts to optimise the performance of the server itself, which speeds up requests for all resources on your website.
  3. Bloat. Unnecessary plugins and code which take a browser longer to download and display on every page on your website. Within a site speed improvement project, unnecessary bloat is removed and necessary code or plugins are reviewed and often replaced.
  4. CDN. Implementing a Content Delivery Network can help to increase page speed. A CDN essentially replicates your content across multiple servers around the planet, allowing users to connect to their nearest server. Since data travels less, the data transfer time is reduced, which improves load time.
  5. Images. The images used on a website can be unnecessarily large if not managed correctly. For example, a 2048 x 1536px image is used on a page, but resized, is still a 2048 x 1536px image. A visitor’s browser still has to download the huge image (multiple MB download size) and then resize it on their device, which could end up being fairly small on the user’s screen. Using image compression and resizing, that same image could be presented in the correct dimensions and be just 30k in size, significantly reducing data transfer time and page load time.
  6. Scripts. Most web pages use multiple scripts, each of which increases the size of the page and can slow down the load time. It is common for elements on a web page to wait until a script has been completed. This means that the page cannot load fully until the script has completed running, which obviously slows page load time significantly. Deferred loading is one technique to optimise page speed – forcing content to load before the script is run. The result is a human-usable page, whilst the scripts continue to run in the background.

Yes. There are many studies which confirm that page speed has a direct impact on conversion rates – the percentage of visitors who complete the goal (a form completion, an eCommerce purchase, a registration). Conversion Rate of course impacts the quantity of conversions your site receives (see Conversion Rate Optimisation) and significantly, the Cost per Conversion (or CPA) in a Google Ads campaign.

WordPress page speed optimisation can;

 – increase the number of conversions (leads, sales) you generate through your website

 – lower the cost of each lead generated through Pay Per Click Ads

 – help scale paid ad performance. With a higher conversion rate, you can afford to bid more. Bidding more increases visibility and clicks. Increasing clicks increases conversions.
